    Intra Venous Sedation (Twilight)

At Affordable dental our experienced, dental clinicians are committed to ensuring you’re comfortable and at ease during your dental procedures. Offering Intra venous sedation is just one of the ways we accommodate to our patients’ individual needs.

    What Is IV sedation?

Intra Venous (IV) sedation is a type of sedation that does not put you completely to sleep. Sometimes called “twilight” sleep, it makes you less aware of the procedure and what your dentist is doing. You do not need help breathing, and you should still be able to respond to commands.

It’s delivered intravenously via a cannula in your arm. At Affordable dental we utilise a Medical Emergency Doctor who is a Sedation Specialist.

The Benefits of IV sedation for patients, ensures your comfort during the procedure by the sedative taking effect immediately. In addition, it provides a period of amnesia, so you won’t remember your dental procedure. This helps prevent recalling any previous dental traumas and phobias.

It’s specifically beneficial for patients with dental phobias and those who are undergoing longer, more complex procedures. Please take into consideration that people with certain pre-existing health conditions may not be able to receive IV sedation.

In our clinics, we may recommend this approach for patients undergoing wisdom teeth extractions or dental implants procedures. Our sedation specialist who also happens to be Director of Emergency dept in a Sydney hospital who comes into our Parramatta clinic regularly to administer the sedation. We will schedule your procedure accordingly if you choose to have sedation.

    Tailoring for your Needs

Based on our consultation and examination, our dentists will explain any conditions with your teeth. They will then plan out their treatment recommendations and answer all of your questions to ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. As part of this process, they’ll discuss sedation options. If that is an option you’re interested in, we’ll explain the process and have you scheduled for your procedure.
